<<Does anyone actually like Helmuth?>>

No. In the game I mentioned, he and Juanda almost came to blows, when he asked Juanda for a chip count. This is in a cash game, not in a tournament. Juanda was very offended, and said "Phil, that's the last time I'll answer that question from you" and accused Helmuth of "sharking" him. Matusow was needling Phil incessantly (and if you've ever heard him talk, you know why he's called "Mike the Mouth"). In fairness, Phil was very tolerant of people asking for autographs or a picture with him, and seemed to be a decent guy away from the poker table.

The most amazing hand of the week was one Carlos Mortenson was involved in (again, in the cash no-limit game). Blinds were 100-200. He was on the button. A player in front of him, either Pharad Friedman or Allen Cunningham raised to 600. The dealer only dealt Carlos one card by mistake. Nonetheless, Carlos raised to 2000. Carlos had been very aggressive the whole game, frequently moving all-in. The player on the big blind, Randy (didn't catch his last name) re-raised to 6000. Everyone folded back to Carlos, who without batting an eye said "can I have another card, please"? It was dealt, he glanced at it and.....immediately says "ooolll-innn"! Big Blind immediately calls for another 10K or so, saying "run 'em twice" (the all-in callers had the option of rerunning the hand two times and playing them as second games; if the players split the two hands the pot would be chopped). They turn over their cards, Carlos had Q-J offsuit and the big blind had....6-3! They ran the hands and ended up chopping it. Helmuth wrote it all down, says he's gonna use it as his "hand of the week" column in Card Player, LOL!
