I never said the US alone was responsible. I said they should have refused to let the UN aid folks stay at the compound without security. And the UN is responsible for saying that they didn't want the security. They're both wrong.

But I'm not looking to blame anyone for it, as you infer. It was a stupid thing to have let happen. The US knew it was foolhardy, that is why we offered the security. All I'm saying is we should have gone one step further and told them either get out of Baghdad or let us provide security. Plain and simple.

I'll leave hanging the blame for it and putting the spin on it to you.

You'll either agree with me that it was stupid and shouldn't have been allowed...or not.

I doubt that the UN would have refused our security ultimatum. Saddam is wishing he wouldn't have refused his ultimatum.
