For those that won't read all that material I just posted here are a few facts about MTBE. It doesn't break down in the soil like regular gasoline. It's affects are cumulative in local water supplies. It's a carcinogen. It makes gasoline less efficient so even though you emit less pollutants, you burn more gas. Pete Wilson's wife is on the Board of Directors for the oil CO that holds the patent for MTBE. Wilson was the Republican Gov when the additive was introduced. With some luck, maybe the GOP will allow the other oil companies to make and distribute a generic form! LOL
