I guess it depends on what your priorities are. I have never been interested in bettering the lot of the arab people, that is their look out.

I think it is better to focus on muslim extremists. I don't believe that these people can be rehabilitated, at least not the ones that are mad dog killers. We didn't try to rehabilitate Ted Bundy, we fed him to Old Sparky.

However Iraq is not a homogeneous nation. We have replaced Saddam as the strongman trying tp keep it together. While we are certainly better than Saddam, we need to use force to stabilize that nation. It was perhaps the worst choice to try to impose democracy in the region. Iran would have been much better and we could have done it in less than a decade by freeing up trade with them.
