Dude, what took you so long?! I've taken the liberty of sharing your post with some others who've been involved in the discussion, and posting it here, also: Subject 53821 So there was little reason for us to go to the legal trouble of figuring out how to sell to them. The USSR would underbid us. Still, what we did do (dual-use; poisons, millions for "self protection") makes naked enough that we were enabling Saddam's military brutality during a time when we knew what he was, so the administrations stance of being shocked, shocked at, and having been moved to action by, the human rights violations there is... dare I say it?, distasteful?
