My wife uses plenty of the shelves herself. The window faces into the side-yard, but I put white pvc paneling over the window blinds so you can't see what I did from the outside.

Pvc paneling is cool stuff. I've also cut it to fit the kitchen cabinet shelves like shelf-paper. It's very durable and easy to clean. I also cut a big hole in the kitchen wall that I lined with pvc, but I glued it in with adhesive there and put shelves inside the wall and doors in front. The result is a pantry that is 22 inches wide and over 6 feet tall that is only 4 inches deep. The space holds more canned goods than you would think and because it is only 4 inches deep, nothing gets hidden behind something else. I did make sure though I didn't have any wiring in that section of wall before I started remodeling it. It was a lot of work, but it turned out so well that I wonder why they don't make large pre-fab cabinets that fit into walls the same way a bathroom medicine-chest does.
