i agree he was not dragged into a meeting. Clarke is a lose cannon who thinks he has all the answers, fires off snaps of plans without any details. I think the job outgrew him. He was fine on security when the country wasn't having major problems in years past but in the Clinton adm things really started to come undone and Clark never contributed to thinking the big picture. tg Rumsfeld came into defense , and Powell for sec of State. they brought some balance to our security. I believe this came out in the hearings yesterday.

I've read, that Clarke says it was his idea - keeping the President away from Washington, after the 9-11 attack.
