Believing this, requires a careful and consistent editing of reality. You close your eyes and ears to any and all dissonant facts, anything that doesn't match your fantasy self-image.

Just in the last few days, widely reported in all U.S. media, have been the death in U.S. custody of one leader, and the murder by missile of another, by Israel.

Oh, I see how you rationalize this. Anybody we murder, we simply define as "not a leader". Or "not legitimate". Just as, we don't have to treat Taliban prisoners as POWs, because we unilaterally defined the government they fought for as "not legitimate".

Proving, once again, that all it takes is creative labelling, to feel good about doing anything to anybody.
