"Countries LOSE wars when-instead of killing the enemy-they allow their ignorant and resentful elements to form comittees of failed politicians to harass officials trying to fight that war-and posturing by assigning them blame."

I agree, but I see precious little killing of the enemy these days. We have 100,000 plus troops in Iraq trying to preserve life, rather than taking lives. That's not what they are trained to do.

In Pakistan we have breathless reports of the Pakistan army surrounding important members of Al Qaeda. Killing by proxy will win us no respect in the Arab world; the hand that slays Bin Laden and his deputies must be an American hand.

There is a great deal of nation building these days and not a whole lot of bloodshed, except for the victims of islamic bombings.
