I seem to recall being taken to Pleasanton once as a kid to see the County Fair, but I haven't been there since.

I think Chevron and PacTel moved out to San Ramon from San Francisco. Maybe Pleasanton is now a bedroom community for San Ramon.

I believe People Soft is the largest private employer in Pleasanton. Some 35% of cities income is form business tax. Where in cities that are predominantly housing the numbers are much lower. Such as Alamo to the North with 5% business tax income.
No mountain lions will be displaced form what's being built in Pleasanton. If there's displacement of mountain lions it would be to the east in 'Mountain House' a new community "projected population of 44k" being developed on the boarder with Alameda county in San Joaquin.
And yes I got it, you were just joking about lions.
On a serious note look at the displacement of raptors from the windmill farms in the Altamont pass. Like one Golden Eagle 'found' dead a month with many smaller hawks, Owls, well you get the picture.
