Finally, I can read my messages. OK Bob, here is my thinking (just private thoughts I am no expert in these matters).
The beef appears to be that the Medicare drug benefits run up the cost of Medicare, but I ask, DOES IT REALLY. Here is my thinking: The CHEAPEST form of medicine is PREVENTITIVE medicine. The CHEAPER form of cure is DRUGS over operations and hospital stays. Now, who is MOST LIKELY not to take their medicine? I am thinking poorer folks who cant afford it. Well, under this plan those folks would pay at most $5 a prescription. (about the price of a Kerry gallon of gas). Also, to really make this work properly you gotta practice PREVENTIVE medicine. That means CHECKUPS to NIP DISEASE AND FRAILITY in the Bud. That also has been addressed. Now everyone, who turns 65 gets a physical (free) and every so often afterwards. So, in summary, does prescriptions REALLY drive up the cost of Medicare or is someone blowing smoke up our ass? jdn
