So, what happened, you ask?

Officially, Bob told me that if we went 24 hours without a TOU violation, he'd double my pay. I'll try to not spend it all in one place.

Unofficially, I think it was a conspiracy between the RWE's, LWE's, and the Bush-remote-piloted-all-of-the-planes buffs. And Evil Canadian Short Sellers, too.

Some have suggested that it was caused by cosmic rays and the alignment of Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars and Saturn. Stranger things have happened.

Seriously, though...

There was a totally unexpected catastrophic database failure which proved to be quite challenging to overcome. It has been a long day and night, followed by another long day and night, especially for Bob and Matt.

On behalf of everyone at Silicon Investor, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience experienced by our users. We are taking steps to minimize the possibility of future such outages.

The good news is that I'm sure Bob will be attacking the development site with an even greater amount of vigor since the sooner Oracle is history, the happier he will be. I'm sure he'll post the gory and glorious details after he gets some sleep.

P.S.

We may be missing some data that was posted immediately before the crash. If so, it may take some time to get it sorted out. And, the DB Admin is still working, so the site may be unstable for a while.
