on imus this morning howard fineman reports that don hewitt called him to respond to earlier comments on imus by fineman. Hewitt told him that they would do a mea culpa this sunday. Both he and stahl profess ignorance on the simon and shuster/viacom thing. Fineman says that hewitt is a stand up guy and he believe his profession of ignorance. Same thing happened with paul o neill by the way. So one has to believe that 60 minutes is either dumb as dirt or malicious as hell. I believe the former because in todays world, it is impossible to coverup these things. Hewitt also told fineman that going forward, they will always check these things out. mike
