which is rather different than your paraphrase. In other words, he does not want to know what augmented security measures there might be, which is a separate discussion, he wants to be shown that someone specifically dropped the ball, and that, had they acted differently, things would likely have come out differently.

When asked if 9/11 would have been prevented had the Bush Administration followed his policy prescriptions, Clarke said "No".............so what exactly was he apologizing for?...........
