Self-Employed Boost The Economic Recovery

By Jon E. Hilsenrath

From The Wall Street Journal Online

Are start-up companies helping to drive the economic recovery?

For months, economists who pore over the Department of Labor's employment surveys have suspected as much. That is because for the past 18 months, more and more Americans have been going off to work on their own. Self-employment has increased by 400,000 in the past year alone, according to a monthly survey of American households conducted by the Labor Department.

Hey I am all for lower taxes. But will double taxing corporations and lowering the rate paid in the US actually lower taxes? I don’t know. I would ask if this is such a good idea, why has the senator not submitted the idea before? Why not right now? And with regard to the tax holiday, why has the senator stood by while his Democratic colleagues filibustered a similar measure?

I would also poit out that the Business Roundtable has said that they would rather see taxes lowered on the consumer, since the consumer is what drives most of their business.

Ultimatley, this measure will make little or no difference to off-shore jobs. The lower wages trumps in that regard.

Of course if GWB has proposed such a measure, there would be howls from the left about corporate favoritism etc. But now we see that

KERRY LOWERES TAXES ON HALIBURTON, ENRON AND MCI !!!!

Ooo, hey that’s good. I think I like it.
