I think the key is reading. Kids today don't read enough, they have MTV and PlayStation and X-Box to keep them company.

And there is a time, if care is not taken, when a boy rebels against his dad, he rebels against everything and everyone. Often this coincides with his discovering that dad is a human being, with the accompanying flaws. Children cannot grow in a moral vacuum.

The goal of a good father is not to hide flaws, but to consistently demonstrate how to handle them with grace and integrity.
