No reason to lose respect for Rice. She obviously doesn't respect the "investigation" enough to trust its impartiality. It is a mistake to even meet with the panel. It would be tragic to do so under oath.

In your filthy hearts you know the truth - that this is no honorable meeting, but that it is just a political tactic to destroy Bush - and for no good reason at all.

We'll see how Rice does and how the thing pans out in the end.

<<If this doesn't make one lose all respect for Rice, then one must be already low enough in morals.>>

It's truly amazing.

Frist admits lying on the senate floor:

talkingpointsmemo.com

“Mr. Clarke has told two entirely different stories under oath,” Frist said in a speech from the Senate floor, alleging that Clarke said in 2002 that the Bush administration actively sought to address the threat posed by al-Qaida before the attacks.

Frist later retreated from directly accusing Clarke of perjury, telling reporters that he personally had no knowledge that there were any discrepancies between Clarke’s two appearances. But he said, “Until you have him under oath both times, you don’t know.”

And the Whitehouse admits the claim that Bush never met with Clarke on 9-12 was also a lie.

Retracted White House statements do little to boost public trust. CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart reports, until today, the Bush administration denied a meeting had taken place between the president and Clarke, during which Bush allegedly instructed Clarke to investigate Saddam Hussein and Iraq after Sept. 11.

The White House today reversed that comment, and staff members now tell reporters, "We are not denying such a meeting took place. It probably did."

First it's hilarious (as the Daily Show pointed out) that their defense against Clarke was that Bush was never in the Situation Room on 9-12 but this is really outrageous.

They just come out and lie and then admit they're lying to smear anyone who dares speak against the President.

And not only do Bush's supporters around here not condemn such smears, they cheer them on.

These are seriously morally impaired people.
