All rights reserved i wouldn't dismiss him so quickly. the recent moves in the markets DO have a strange feel to them. whether Sinclair's tentative conclusion in this context is correct is a different matter - but when an experienced trader is telling you that something strange is going on in the markets you should perhaps take heed and take another look. after all, in the two weeks before 9-11, NYSE member firms went on their biggest net stock selling spree EVER ( a fact which to my knowledge not a SINGLE mainstream media commentator has even mentioned, although the data are public and there for everyone to see ) , so there sure are prior instances of experienced market participants smelling that something strange was going on ( iow, i am not alleging that the NYSE members had advance knowledge of what was going to happen, but rather that they saw something strange happen in the markets and reacted to it ) . All rights reserved i think you haven't thought this through. what about the many Pakistani nuclear scientists who are KNOWN to have made 'consultation trips' to Afghanistan, meeting with high ranking AQ types? think they were not able to tell them if a device was worth buying or not,and how to keep it in shape? too many suitcase nukes as well as war heads have simply 'disappeared' from the former SU for us not to be concerned about the possibilities. in any event, even if one discounts this nightmare as unlikely, there can be little doubt that when Russia has several hundred CONFIRMED cases of nuclear smuggling in recent years ( i.e. the ones that were caught ) , several hundred more have probably slipped the net. and all you need for a workable nuclear device is a critical mass, and a trigger ( plus the know-how from Pakistan ) . anyway, a dirty nuke would be bad enough, and that strikes me as definitely within the capabilities of the terror organization ( s? ) . like Buffett said, it's not so much a question of if and how and what, but when. All rights reserved unfortunately religious nuts can not be judged by standards of rationality. they may well decide that the sacrifice is 'worth it' in their deluded minds. religious fanatics throughout history have proven to harbor a propensity for psychopathic mass-murder behaviour. note in this context that this holds true not only for what we traditionally regard as religions, but also for nominally non-theist religions like e.g. communism. in the more narrow context of Muslim radicals, people who have no compunction about blowing THEMSELVES up certainly can't be expected to care about who they take along for the ride...it's like the crusade against the Albigensians in the middle ages...'kill them all, and let the lord sort them out'. All rights reserved well, we have now a very dangerous situation imo...negative money flows/underperformance in the gold stocks, plus a real bummer of a CoT report ( how much more stretched can this position become? ) . time to batten down the hatches, i just hope we get to see some more near term strength in the shares, but it's a very small hope. anyway, today i've reduced exposure a bit for the first time in a while, and i'll probably do more of the same next week. of course there's always the 'exogenous event' risk thay Sinclair alluded to - it is no doubt quite high right now, in view of the most recent threats issued by AQ ( and if you're a conspiracy theorist, the way fratboy&co. are beginning to badly slip up lately in the press and vis-a-vis the sheepleship ) .
