Re: ............Armittage was a joke. Armitage's job was to provide the comic relief from Clarke's heavy lifting. You'll notice that he was a late addition to the agenda. Karl Rove, master Machiavellian recognized that Clarke's appearance was timed perfectly for the networks to be forced to cover him for the evening news on Wednesday. Rove correctly assumed that the networks would suck up and kiss his ass if he inserted Armitage with his glib pronouncements and misdirection schemes. My favorite line was Armitage calling Pakistan a (disposable) "Dixie Cup". That was rich. <gg>
