The 'people' are organized into brigades of sheople, whether the majority of them know it or not. That is the way of the people. That was the way of the people on TianAnMen Square so many years ago as well. There appears to be quite a bit of behind-the-scenes domestic as well as geopolitical diplomacy going on. Some off-island intel services may know something or have evidence of other things. Some off-island diplomats must trying to work things out so that there will not be bloodshed on the street. Other powers are perhaps watching, readying to reach for the "battle stations" alert buttons should diplomacy fail to result in a satisfactory outcome to all. No one presumably wants to reach for the button first, or even bring the crisis (and it may be a crisis) to the next level, either by motion or by revelations, because the situation is delicate, very delicate. Perhaps a sham will result, maybe blood will spill, or the right thing will happen. <<I still believe in "the will of the people".>> Let's watch, but let us not preclude the possibility that the 'people' are perhaps mere pawns in a game and possibly nothing more. <<So far so good in Taiwan side>> Another thing, so far, it can easily be argued, Taiwan is on course for an appointment with an asteroid. 49.8% ticked-off people + 150k of pissed-off military personnel is not a good idea, any any politicians should know that, and yet some didn't know, or knew and went for the gold ring anyway. "Rock, rock, rock your boat, merrily down the stream, oh, merrily, merrily, rock the boat ... merrily down the stream" ... Perhaps the solution can be splitting the island, ala Cyprus style, except into three portions, so that all the people can have what they desire? The sometimes inevitable outcome of a immature mob-democracy without clear majority is independence by one majority from another majority. The last time Taiwan was split this way by too-clever-by-half politicians and sheople country bumpkins back so many hundred years ago, the island returned to the warm embrace of the motherland :0) Pan Blue can have the northern part of the island, including Taipei, Pan Taiwan the south, and Pan Green the middle. To increase economic efficiency, Pan Blue can attract some Henan peasants to their slice of the island to work and prosper, and to increase military preparedness, they can rent some Chinese-speaking troops from elsewhere to boost security :0) J
