Ciena has been awful. I try to put myself in their shoes there. The only thing that can explain their behavior(not aggressively reducing costs, heavy r and d spending, acquiring companies to spread out their product offerings and gain a foothold with a huge number of new customers),is that they are trying leverage the advantages they do have to compete with nt, lu, and csco. I can dream that it might work, but its only a dream. I think they have held their own area, and they now are positioned in many new ones. It'll be something if it works. It'd would be stupid to count on it.
