They needed to test in February (humans and chickens). Instead they delayed announcements as the virus spread. Now they are responding to dead or dying chickens and employing restrictions after the fact. It is much like SARS II. They are simply in denial (and "managing" the news - but the H7N3 virus doesn't read press releases - nor did SARS CoV).

C, The data on the human cases are the most glaring. Media reports of FEBRUARY 21 indicated that there were 5 workers with symptoms and the Feb 23 press release of Fraser Health indicated 3 were negative for influenza A. I have not found any follow up on the other two, even now, well over a month after symptoms.

The latest report has one positive, but that person was exposed more recently. Media reports indicate that there are 10 workers with symptoms and about half have been tested. That's pretty close to the original 3 plus the 1 positive. Thus, at this point there is still no report on most of the cases, which of course is absurd.

There seems to be some extreme emphasis on damage control, even down to release of bad information late on a Friday. The press releases are very carefully worded to be correct, but EXTREMELY misleading, which has some obvious parallels with SARS II in Toronto.
