I've watched him carefully on the tube, and in terms of personality, (IMO) he could be a twin of a guy I've known for more than thirty years. My "friend" is exceptionally bright and very competent. If you've got something you're "mulling over" that is even close to his area of expertise, it's a good idea to "pass it by him". OTOH, he's arrogant, and fails to see the pitfalls of hubris. So he can be just as stubborn when he's wrong as when he's right. It's this last trait that has me worried about Clarke. If he shares that characteristic with my "friend", then if the Bushistas keep pressing, they'll find an area where he's wrong and vulnerable. And given his feisty stubbornness, they can use that vulnerability to trash everything he has said. Hope it doesn't happen. JMO lurqer
