Here's a transcript of it.
I've heard the recording.

This is what I am calling Clarke#1

Clarke#2 has testified in committee and in his CBS book.

Clarke#2 has been confronted with Clarke#1 and he dismissed it as he was only trying to make everyone look good he was working for.

The terrorists tried to knock down the WTC in 1993. Clarke and Clinton had eight years. Yet Clarke#2 blames the first eight months of Bush's administration?

There is a difference between being asked to make a pitch and being asked to outright lie, compromising your integrity. I have worked for large corporations and have never been asked to publicly lie, certainly not that I can recall. It is permissible to put a positive spin on bad news because in every cloud there is a silver lining. Drawing attention to that lining and away from the cloud is not only permissible, it is good leadership. But to do what Clarke has admitted doing is plainly the result of personal corruption.
