I believe markets will go up in the event of a Kerry win. The dollar and inflation are a drag on these markets, both are exascerbated by Bush (esp dollar, with these out of control deficits). Global tension which Bush increases are also causing reluctance in hiring. And finally with fewer workers in the US with high disposable income, fewer are able to speculate on stocks, esp tech stocks.

"The Markets" were hoping for a Bush I reelection over Clinton too, if I recall correctly.
