Clinton was a failure. Everyone knows it. The great thing is, Bush has prevailed over the sleazy Democrat onslaught. The GOP needs now to continue the assault.

"Half those surveyed in the poll after Clarke's testimony Wednesday said they thought he was acting for political and personal reasons, while a quarter said they feel he's acting as a dedicated public servant.

Two-thirds of Americans say the testimony of Richard Clarke, the former terrorism adviser who has been critical of the Bush administration, hasn't affected their view of the president, says a poll released Saturday.

Two-thirds said the Clinton administration did not take the threat of terror seriously enough, while six in 10 said the Bush administration has taken the threat as seriously as it should.

The poll found the presidential race between Bush and Democrat John Kerry tied and found Bush's job approval was 49 percent.

Everything is now in place for the GOP to destroy the Democrats on terrorism. The public clearly understands that the Dems are weak here. Bush's supporters now need to keep up their assault on Clarke, continually turning it as they are doing toward the Democrats. This will enable Bush to step away and pointedly take on Kerry.

I suspect this will begin to happen beginning next week. You will notice the numbers will continuously fall against the Dems and rise for the GOP. By the time this is over, George W. Bush will have the coatails longer than any possessed by either his father or Bill Clinton.

They only need to keep hitting the Democrats on being "political while terrorists plot to harm us." Keep hitting them about relying upon Clarke and his lies. Keep smashing them - and watch the numbers move to their favor.

Where's Kerry? (grin)
