After the Madrid bombings, major media reported that there is no way in heck that Amtrak, subways, public transports everywhere can be protected against bombs. Still, the chances of being killed or hurt in a terrorist attack on US soil are ridiculously tiny.

The media's reporting of crimes makes the US seem so dangerous when, in reality, it really isn't. We're much more likely to be harmed by too many lunchtime burgers or too many drinks on Saturday night than by anyone with a bomb.

I'll take a less certain, slightly more dangerous world and keep my civil liberties instead.
