Sorry I misunderstood you.

I think Gibson's real genius was filming it in aramaic/latin, it makes it not an American movie, but one from nowhere in particular. Arabs will hear a familiar sound, and other parts of the world (Central and South America, Asia) will see an American film where they are not at a disadvantage to Americans in viewing it.
