Rice as V.P. is a non-starter for now because of one issue-- abortion. Rice is likely a choicer (like Powell) and would certainly weaken the desire of folks like me to support the GOP should she be picked for the ticket. Her run would not cause me to turn Democrat, but it would certainly keep me home, since I cannot possibly vote for a child murderer. I suspect, by varying degrees, there are still a lot of people like me, though our influence in the GOP is obviously on the wane. I think she’d be a great campaigner. People like her. I like her. She can be forceful. But too many people still embrace the principle of life to support her. She needs to wait another eight years, until people like me can be replaced by Hispanics or some other voting block.

I am now the discarded past, and that is really okay with me. Democrats employ litmus test after litmus test to focus extraordinary intensity upon their atrocious agenda while the GOP’s “Big Tent” grows ever larger. It is now too large for my tastes. I figure I will stick with supporting the GOP for this election cycle and the next (against Hillary or whatever else garbage the Democrats toss up). After that, I can’t see that I will be able to support the party any longer because its upcoming stars are not people like me, but people like Rice. Bush today is even too liberal for me to feel comfortable. The immigration thing has turned me far against him, his big spending as well. I also sense that his support for a constitutional definition of marriage is lukewarm and that he would accept laws forcing Sodomites on the country if people like me were not around. Rice and her kind are the future of the GOP, but they are going to have to wait a few more years.
