The BLS certainly does not create the distortion inducing methodologies they follow. As long as the BLS faithfully follows the ever-changing methodologies handed to them, there is no reason to try to influence the BLS. That would be amateurish.

Tradelite, when the govt's inflation numbers are so far out of touch with reality, of course people are going to wonder why. Only someone in the industry would know why.

According to Elroy, I believe, they changed the formula for the worse during the mid 70's, when they apparently decided to exclude the cost of real estate prices. They need to undo this change.

They need to fix the formula to reflect actual reality.

It creates a credibility issue, if they don't.
