I think it's better if the country moves into better jobs, rather than sustaining the poorer jobs without benefits.

I think so too but I don't think the people who are poorer workers should be pushed out by the effects of a law. If there is no demand for them then they will be unemployed, but if there is demand at a lower price then the government shouldn't artificially cut off that demand.

I don't have much of a problem with current minimum wage laws because the minimum wage is low enough to have little impact, but various "living wage" laws, esp. if they passed on a national level would increase unemployment and create inflationary pressure and in general cause more problems then benefits.
