Notice that many of the "terrorist" / political groups which have territorial, national or secular political goals are not attacking the US, and outside of rhetoric, seem to be separating them selves from the religeous-fanatic groups.

This maybe due to different goals - if you are fighting for a progressive, secular, scientific nation state, associating with fanatic goat herders in frozen mountains may not match up well.

You might want your country or ethnic group to have it's own skyscrapers, instead of knocking them down.

Add to that the awareness that the most of the West will stomp very hard on anyone precieved to be a threat, and we have a change in behaviour, at least for now.

Hi ep,
Post invasion, Syria seems to have gone quiet, Libya has come over, and even the Iranians are having second thoughts
I think the Iranian situation is far more complex than that statement. I think stratfor's take on that situation is pretty good and is at best tenuous for the US.

As to Libya... they were already cooked.... IMO...

been critical of the GWB policies and actions As to Stratfor I think they have a modest US bias which needs to be taken into consideration when reading them. I find their stuff very good though.

regards
Spots..
