We have wacos in this country too. They are a small minority just as the terrorists are a small minority

Our wacos don't have millions of sympathizers or millions of dollars, or an ideology that tells them that killing millions of people is a swell idea.

The very polls you cite to tell us how we are hated also show that sympathy for these perfectly stupid ideas is widespread, and supports the minority who takes action. When your ideas tell you that slamming passenger jets into skyscrapers is a glorious idea, how large a minority of activists do you need to have a serious threat?

We have wacos in this country too. They are a small minority just as the terrorists are a small minority. The problem with our terrorist policy is it increases support for the terrorist. Huge military responses to terrorist events feed the terrorist mind and rally support for their causes.

Do you really understand what you're saying? First you acknowledge we have our own domestic terrorist "wackos", but then try and claim that taking actions against them only encourages more terrorism..

So what do you propose, ignore them? Cuddle them? Give them some warm milk and cookies?

I'm sorry, that will only entice them to commit even more terrorism because they will believe you are afraid of them.

You really don't seem to understand the mindset of such terrorist groups. Terrorists are trying to create high drama and to force their targeted victims to alter their policies. Any sign of weakness only encourages them to carry out even more daring terrorist actions.

But they know that their support only grows when it has no derogatory impact on their support base (governmental and power elites). When their actions create a situation where their targets carry out retaliation that affects an entire region, aimed at undermining and destroying their support base through military, financial, and political pressure, these terrorists eventually find themselves standing alone.

It's all well and good to terrorize farmers on the prairies and steal their horses, but when it results in the Calvary arriving and altering the existing power structure in your society (often dramatically), eventually you'll be blamed for starting a fight you couldn't win.
