In most cases I have been very successful in removing these things with Ad-aware, letting it go ahead and remove things as it sees fit. Perhaps if you post the ten items that were detected, we can see if they are familiar to anyone here. Regarding Messenger, as long are installing the updates for Windows that Microsoft provides, I see no problem having it installed. I have it running on all my machines all the time.

In case you don't know...when Adaware presents you with the list of suspected spyware you can double click each one individually and Adaware will give you a little description of what they are and their risk level...risk level meaning spyware nastiness. That might help you decide whether you want Adaware to delete it?

If you have downloaded and installed, updated and run HijackThis and followed the directions for saving the log, post it at this page by registering and hitting the NewTopic button on the right side of the screen. There is also a FAQ under the Posting Guidelines section. spywareinfo.com Check back in in a few hours and someone will post the solution for you. If you have trouble with that, post the HijackThis log here on SI and I will get your answers for you. Sorry to take up so much room and time That's what we are here for...no problem. I'll post our PM posts if you think it will help someone come up with an answer. May be something I missed that may lead to a solution.
