You cannot expect to win over all the people all the time -- but time in a US university does more to expose people from other countries to the democratic ways of the US than firing depleted uranium shells, blowing up buildings with cruise missiles and breaking down doors in the middle of the night to shake down families in their homes.

Hi skinowski,

Sayyid Qutb lived and studied in America back 1949. For Qutb, with his fundamentalist way of interpreting Islam, American culture - even back during those idyllic times - was way too materialistic and sensual -- the experience brought out enough hatred to last him a lifetime. We are still experiencing repercussions of that hatred.

Excellent point. You are absolutely correct in pointing this out.
