Avian flu outside of the red zone has been confirmed and a second farm outside of the red-zone has been quarantined and public has been assured that there is no "serious" risk to humans.

The spin and spread go on and on

The confirmed farm outside of the red zone is within a few miles of the US border.

Situation in Abottsford is getting messier

Slaughterhouse appears to be outside of surveillence region and very close to airport and US border, so a 5 km hot zone around the latest H7N3 confirmed farm would extend to the airport and state of Washington.

The situation in Fraser Valley is even worse than I initially thought. The surviellance region covers an area within a 10 km radius of the initial outbreak. However, the two most recent farms are both outside of this 10 km radius (I had thought they were outside of the 5 km radius) and are not adjacent to each other, suggesting that much of Fraser Valley is within 10 km of the two farms

Now it is beginning to sound like there may be over a dozen human cases of avian flu in British Columbia
