have installed just a CD-ROM that can only READ,
but make sure it can also Record, or Record & re-Write


If you plan on burning CDs you would want to change the CD drive to a cd-r or cd-rw. You can add to a cd-r if you don't finalize the cd.....you just can't overwrite the data on it. I use cd-r instead of cd-rw disks because my computers at work will not read a cd-rw

once your write request is done, the CD is now a Read-Only

When taking a cd-r to work, I always have to copy the disk to the hard drive and then remove the read only attribute before I can use the files. I'm not very up-to-date on this burning stuff so my info may not be completely true. Hopefully, some wiser heads will chime in.
