I had similar views with respect to Luther going through school. I don't remember studying his dark side. Yet, it appears that this may have been the controlling side. Even more, it seems that some of his followers have taken hold on these views as justification for some very extreme beliefs. I'm afraid one of our regular posters may follow those and admire them.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not one to blame any of today's religions because of the content of "ancient writings." There is plenty that one can find in those to justify hatred, bigotry and war. Similarly, there is enough in those works to support love, understanding and peace among all.
