CR, I view the Dr. Rice reversal as something driven by fellow Republicans. The Republicans have finally realized what they should have realized in 2000. Bush and his folks embarked on a systematic decimation of their opponents. I started with Sen McCain and along the way included people like Colin Powell and several others. They did not stop at their own partymen. They extended that to the Democrats (understandable) and even to other leaders of the world.

Now the Republicans such as Sen. Hagel and a few others have realized that it is time to send Bush back to Texas. For if they don't they figure they could also loose their majority in the Congress and the Senate. And last week we saw the moderate Republicans such as Gov. Dean, Sec. Lehman, Richard Clarke etc. take the lead and hit Bush hard where he would hurt the most, his claim that he is a leader in the war on terrorism. And they drew first blood in that they got Bush to agree to have Dr. Rice come forward and speak to the general public especially to the families of 9/11 under oath.

Needless to say there are other Republicans such as yourself who realized this too along with others in DC. As far as Sen. Zel Miller goes we will let him be a fan of the Bush club.
