Blockbuster may be using "special editions" from the manufacturers. Rent that title from another source and see if it plays. If it does...don't rent from Blockbuster again. When VSH was the only game in town Blockbuster use to order "special" edited copies of films from the manufactures. Didn't want to offend their clients' with delicate sensitivities. Since they order 100,000 copies at a clip, the studios were happy to obey.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blockbuster is renting out pirated copies themselves, and this is why they won't play in your player...
