9/11 wasn't a "good precedent" either. The commission is charged with trying to find a way to avoid future 9/11's. Since "insuring" that is your goal, it seems a smaller thing to have the President testify under oath, than to have American corpses dragged through the streets of Fallujah.

But I guess we each have our own tolerance level for good and bad precedents.
