It's a hopeless situation.

It would seem your world is filled with hopelessness Carl.. Obviously there is nothing worth trying to achieve... Why not just permanently check out of the net, buddy?? You're just torturing yourself by continuing to permit the world to inflict its pain and agony upon your superior moral intellect.

You certainly don't seem to believe that it's worthwhile to fight (and sometimes die) for our ideals, even if it's finding resistance from those with other, more depotic, ideals.

You're sitting back there all smug in your chair, supposedly with all the answers.

Hardly... I have a number of associates and friends working in the region. I have a very personal vested interest in seeing law & order, as well as political stability created in Iraq.

But your answers don't work in the real world.

They sure as hell work alot better than your concept of sitting our @sses and doing nothing... That's nothing more than someone too frightened to take actions against a group of thugs who will eventually attempt to kill him...

If you don't take the battle to them, they will bring it to us, as Bin Laden did on 9/11. They want to change our world to their repressive and intolerant ideals. So if you're unwilling to believe in our ideals and act just as aggressively towards spreading them through a corrupt and violent world in order to create positive change, then we might as well just batten down the hatches and await our eventual fate.

A suicide bomber(s) packing nukes or biological weapons within our very cities, in hope of collecting his 72 virgins.

Is your idea to "out gruesome" the resistance? If so, I'd say that you're volunteering for quite a pig wrestle. If not, I'd say that you're rather unrealistic about the ability we have to make the Iwaqis wuv us.

Hardly... although at a primal level, the idea does have it's appeal. It's up to the Iraqi police to identify and detain everyone who was found on that video footage. And of course, I have a feeling that the Marine HUMINT teams in that city are going to use their own special skills at turning these "revelers" and having them lead us to compatriots.

What I'm wondering is exactly what the Blackwater Security guys are thinking about doing "off the clock".. 3 of those contractors were former Navy SEALS.. And they tend to take this kind of stuff personally.

Which reminds me, seen any sign that the UN is going to take over for us come July? I haven't.

Which shows you just how ineffective the UN is in it's current incarnation. Corrupt, spineless, and its mission obfuscated by decadent non-democratic member states, it just doesn't have the moral foundation to play such a role any longer..

And even if they get involved, it will result in nothing more than a facade. Because the UN has no military power, except that which its member states provide to it.

And most nations are too smart to permit their armed forces to fall under the leadership of such a disjointed and pathetic leadership structure.

But we'll see.... I tend to think the recent info on Kofi Annan was a direct result of informaton discovered in Iraq. And that could put him under some serious pressure to either resign, or at least work a Faustian bargain with the Bush administration.
