Pay no attention to the man behind the curtains

I like how the Government conveniently omits certain items.
I never could understand that one

I was sitting here scratching my head this morning when Rick S, was telling the masses how inflation is in check and no inflation on the horizon.
Hey Rick, what do you call it when my kid's school touition continues to go up almost 10% every year?
Or how her dresses for her dance recitials are more expensive3 every year.
Or why I am paying 15% more for auto insurance this year- never mind the fact I haven't had a cliam in the five years I have been with the company.

Or why it costs more to fill my gas tank.
Or why the wife needs more money for the same amount of groceries
And the list goes on......

And don't forget about the rise in my local and state taxes.
Or the rise in my school and property taxes cuz the county decided to reassess my house cuz of the housing bubble.

I don't see how there can not be inflation. Everything from housing, to energy, to the other things you mention. And let's not forget the falling dollar.

There is a short story by CM Kornbluth called Marching Morons that addresses what I think is happening. It is a futuristic story where the intelligence of the population has been divided to an extreme. To keep the lower intelligence bulk of the population placated, the intelligensia that is in control feeds them constant deceptions. One example is that everyone loves really fast cars that also sound really fast. But of course, that isn't always safe. So to protect them from themselves and to still meet Fast/loud criteria, the cars have speedometers that go to 200mph and when the car is actually going 50mph, it shows 150mph. And of course, the cars are really loud.

Anyway, the point that I am trying to make is, if they tell us there isn't any inflation, as long as we accept that, everyone is happy....ummm, right?

You're being lied to? They hope you will swallow their swill?

CPI and PPI are computed numbers with weights for the various items in it. You can pick what goes into it and pick the weights.

This tells a different story

If we have no inflation, why has that been heading up for 2 years?
