IMHO the gains (or losses) are going to be in new stocks >> Oh, I agree, and trust me, my big gains last year did not come form the Big Horses, they came from lesser know, smaller companies.....And I am not saying one should put a high % of their dollars into any of the big boys...but some stocks are just safe and not bad to hold for the long term. They may not hit home runs every at bat as they did in the past, but you can count on them to be steady contributors to your team, without spending too mch time on the disabled list <g>...MSFT did NOTHING in 03, while other stuff went up thousands of %......Still glad I have it and although it may not see huge gains, I am fairly sure it will be steady and safe over the long term......
