Sad to see that the most heavily armed civilians were the ones killed in Falujah. They are there to protect Bremmer, some NGOs and, oh for goodness sakes, oil production.

Interesting that Afghanistan got $4.4b this year with $2.2b coming from us. Karzai wants that much ever year for the next 7 years for a total of $28b. Obviously half of that or more will come from us. Where is that oil pipeline project again?

Wonder how much of that will get siphoned off into poppy production or warlord bank accounts? Is HAL privvy to noncompete contracts in Afghanistan yet? What about Bechtel?

Also interesting to see that Afghanistan's so called democracy is running into a bit of a road block. In the hinterlands which is most of the country, people are illiterate. They have to have words explained to them then they can get onto understanding democracy.

Given that most Americans don't understand the US form of government, a true democratic election in Afghanistan this year or even next is a wee bit of a humongous stretch.

"Clinton was distracted from the war on terror to deal with the ridiculous investigations into his bedroom."

Excuse me, that was his workplace not his bedroom. He was also using a ton of "executive privilege" to drag out that Starr investigation.
