"My first choice will be McCain, but my first choice is Edwards amongst the Democrats, in fact I would say my only choice." That's my thinking, too. Absent McCain, I think he should go with Edwards early. Edwards is a great speaker, really comes across as having a heart. They should replicate the initial Clinton/Gore strategy of saying the VP is going to have a real role in this administration, we are going to be partners, not running mates. Then get Edwards on television at every possible opportunity, people love him.
