Lots and lots of people fail to recognize there is an enemy - because if they did recognize it, they would never waste their time and ours asking how we could mollify the enemy be acting differently or altering our foreign policy. I don't think so. I think you're assuming the broadest scope of enemy. If the enemy is a fringe element, then it's reasonable to look to negotiate grievances, mollify, etc. the enemy's fellow swamp dwellers in the hope of getting them to align with you against the enemy and squeeze it out. If you consider all the inhabitants of the swamp to be the enemy, however, then you're right, there's no one with whom to negotiate. I really don't think there are people who fail to recognize that there is an incorrigible enemy. As I said before, people have differing views on the scope of enemy representation and/or their power, among other things.

Very well said Nadine. If their words aren't proof enough, then their deeds certainly show they mean what they say over & over again. Heck aren't 9/11 & 3/11 proof enough in themselves? I wonder what it's going to take for some folks to see what is so obvious. "If by "enemy" you mean someone who can't be talked out of it, whose hatred isn't just a cover for some list of negotiable grievances, who really, truly wants you dead, and no substitutes will do, then I completely disagree.
