MPC Computers Wins Best New Technology Award at FOSE Government IT Expo
New TransPort T3000 Wins Notebook Category
NAMPA, Idaho, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- MPC Computers, a Gores Technology Group company, today announced the TransPort(R) T3000 notebook computer. This new system received top honors for the Best New Technology Awards in the notebook category at FOSE, the premier government trade show held last week in Washington DC. The T3000 incorporates the latest mobile technology, including Intel's(R) Centrino(R) mobile solution, along with government-required legacy ports, bays, and multi-level security features. These security features include an integrated smart card reader and MPC's innovative biometric fingerprint recognition system. "We are extremely pleased to have been recognized at FOSE with the Best New Technology award," said Paul Petersen, MPC's vice president of product marketing and development. "Receiving such a prestigious award from the government community confirms that the T3000's government-specific design is right on track." The T3000 is a unique combination of new technology, legacy support and security features, all packaged in a notebook designed to maximize mobility. The TransPort T3000 delivers the latest in mobile technology, including Gigabit Ethernet, ATI's Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics and Intel's Centrino mobile solution, which offers long battery life, high processing performance and enhanced wireless connectivity. The legacy support features include a serial port, a parallel port and a type I or type II PCMCIA slot. To meet the security requirements of government customers, the TransPort T3000 offers an integrated smart card reader, tool-less removable hard drive, and a biometric fingerprint scanner. The smart card reader offers a means of reading smart cards without the need for an external device. The tool-less removable hard drive, with one thumbscrew, provides easy removal, allowing customers with highly sensitive information to remove and protect their data. The biometric fingerprint scanner provides secure access to the notebook and its data, requiring validation of the user's fingerprint before the system can be booted and before certain files can be opened.
Additional Features for Convenience and Flexibility:
- The optical device bay has many options, including: CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Combo Drive, DVD+RW, 2nd hard drive or 6-in-1 media reader.
- The notebook also features a bridge battery, which allows the user to replace batteries without powering down the system.
- The T3000's port replicator connects on the bottom without requiring a cable and features its own power-on button, which allows the user to power up the system without opening the notebook. It also includes complete LAN & modem pass-through ports, 2 additional USB ports (for a total of 4 USB ports), and a DVI connector.
