Average weekly hours worked for all employees fell to 33.7 hours in March from 33.8 the prior month. Economists had expected hours would rise to 33.9 hours from a previously reported 33.8, according to the Bloomberg News survey.

Labor Costs

Incomes increased last month. Workers' average hourly earnings rose 0.1 percent, or 2 cents, after a 0.2 percent increase the previous month. Economists had expected a 0.2 percent increase in hourly wages. Average weekly earnings dropped to $523.70 from $524.58 in February.
