So you disapprove of fining the artist $500,000?

Was someone actually fined?

It would depend on the circumstances... I know they fine traffic offenders in Finland according to their financial worth...

I was particularly offended by Janet Jackson's stunt during the SuperBowl.. It's painfully obvious that she intended to show off that breast "shield" on purpose.

And for her to lie about it really insults my intelligence. People just don't normally wear such uncomfortable devices unless they plan on showing them off (that from a woman I know who has worn one).

So yes.. I would fine her $500,000 for that unauthorized exhibition...

If she wants to show it off, have her go on Showtime or HBO, where parents at least have some reasonable expectation of preventing their children from watching it.

Even more aggregious was that she obviously did it in order to enhance sales of her record... Just she had a profit motive for her actions.

As for increasing the FCC's control over Satellite and cable, not unless they are planing on making such venues free to the general public.

We pay for such access and the marketplace will decide what channels we will watch..

What I oppose is for people to use a public venue where there is an established expectation of what will be seen and heard, and then violating those parameters.

Especially for the purpose of creating controversy in order to spur product sales.
